FlatScan- POD
3DX-Ray Ltd is launching Flatscan-POD at Counter-Terror Expo 2009.
FlatScan-POD is a unique product which allows 3DX-Ray Ltd’s lightweight portable x-ray inspection system, FlatScan –TPXi, to be used in busy mass transit locations for baggage inspection.
The mobile cabinet-style unit can be quickly set up as a security inspection station, and moved to other locations as required. Once the FlatScan-POD is in place, the FlatScan-TPXi system is simply slotted into the unit ready to inspect bags. The Flatscan-POD is battery operated so it’s deployment is not limited by access to mains electricity.
The system offers the largest detector area available on the market, extremely high quality images and a range of image processing functions are available which allow the operator to process and clarify the x-ray images. When a suspect package is currently identified, the main decision is typically where to position the disrupter to create a controlled explosion. With the potential risk of a ‘dirty’ device, the use of a disrupter could be disastrous. In such situations the improved discrimination is essential to allow the operator to make the right call.
If a stray suspect item is found in the vicinity, the FlatScan-TPXi unit can quickly be removed from the FlatScan-POD and deployed as a portable x-ray inspection system to image the item without moving it.
The system is currently deployed at railway stations around the UK, and is equally suitable for deployment at stadia, Customs and borders, public and corporate buildings.
